  • Consulting with the management team to prepare and co-ordinate training programmes and professional development plans for both sea going and shore based staff in relation to the management of 15 LNG Carriers, with a multi national officer and crew pool. 
  • Monitoring and reporting on training outcomes. 
    Assisting the Manning and Training Manager in overseeing the activities of the Crew Managers. 
  • Along with reporting and co-ordinating various training courses for both, shore and sea staff (inc Cadets), 
  • Reporting and presenting directly to owners and commercial division to ensure training programmes and budgets are executed in accordance with their wishes.
  • Visiting and building relationships with international Maritime training institutions and manning providers.
  • Taking a lead role with regards to sea-staff training for expansion programmes. Creating, Coordinating, budgeting and monitoring progress : - 
  • Transfer of Skills - VLCC/Product/Chemical Tanker Officer converting to LNG Carriers.
  • FSRU New-build Training Programme for pre-delivery, ongoing operation and localisation programme.
  • Localisation Projects - Management of change for introduction of new Manning Agents,, Officer and Crew selection and training programmes.
  • Northern Sea Route Officer Training Programme, Assisting in creation of training programme, budgeting and supervision of all activities to ensure officers will be compliant with the Polar Code.

  • Ensuring vessels are compliant with Maritime & Coastguard Agency regulations, with regard to manning levels and crew certification. 
  • Liaising with international port authorities to ensure immigration formalities are in place for all crew onboard the vessel. 
  • Managing contracts with foreign manning agencies, ensuring foreign crew selection meets our criteria and that employment contracts and crew certification is correct. 
  •  Organising crew travel / visas for both UK and International crew-members. 
  • Main shore side point of contact for all crew enquiries / problems. 
  • Giving guidance to onboard management for disciplinary procedures. 
  • Dealing with all crew contractual issues, employment, resignation, dismissal, salary etc. 
  • Company Duty Officer – When on call acting as sole point of contact for vessels managed by Bibby’s in case of emergency.

SUMMARY, Over 8 years I held the below positions, the main priorities being, planning for over 150 Flight Deck and 100 Cabin Crew, organizing all aspects of training for new intake pilots and those on type conversions, and liaising with outstations and flight crew to ensure aircraft departures were on schedule. 

Advanced Crew Planning Officer 

  • Looking after the planning for over 150 Flight Deck and 100 Cabin Crew
  • Ensuring all flights were crewed correctly, planning sufficient stand by cover in case of illness.
  • Ensuring all crew were flying within CAA flight time limitations with regard to training / examinations and hours worked and rest achieved.

Flight Training Co-ordinator 

  • Organising all aspects of training for new intake pilots and those on type conversions.
  • Organising all simulator training for initial and recurrent training 
  • Organising of aircraft training slots with ATC and confirming aircraft availability.
  •  This was a major project as the company was undergoing a major expansion, obtaining roughly one aircraft per month at this point (ERJ145).

Operations Control Officer 

  • Liaising with outstations to ensure aircraft departures were on schedule.
  • Organising runway slots / filing flight plans with Euro Control.
  • Liaising with duty manager over schedule changes as and when problems throughout the day arose.
  • Ensuring all flight plans for following day were filed, checking flights crewed correctly and monitoring when slots times came through.
